Monthly Archives: November 2009Yes, I know it’s November but Christmas came early to Poole today as Santa arrived in an RNLI Lifeboat. Accompanied by Atlas from Gladiators, the Mayor and Mayoress of Poole, the cast of the Lighthouse’s Panto, 2 marching bands, dancers, etc old St Nick made his way up the High St before taking up residence…  With Bonfire night being upon us a few people asked me the best way to photograph fireworks. Arrive early find a good vantage point – avoid obstructions unless there’s a landmark you want in the images. Use a tripod and cable release or self timer. Wide-angle or standard focal lengths are normally best for fireworks…  People regularly ask me about what equipment we use and what we think are the best cameras, etc. My current main camera is the Nikon D700, I say ‘current’ because it changes every couple of years, and I say ‘main’ because we have a number of cameras and use them for different types of work…. |
