Sandbanks’ famous red phone box

The red phone box at Sandbanks has long been a photographer’s favourite, especially for quirky wedding photographs like the images we take for our iWed wedding photography service.

The phone box’s future had been put in doubt recently after Studland Parish Council decided not to adopt it for £1 when offered the chance by British Telecom.

Fears about the cost of upkeep had dissuaded the council, but now BT have said that there are no plans to remove the phone box even though the council declined their offer.

A BT spokesman told The Daily Echo that they would not remove a kiosk where there is a clear social need, last year 41 call were made from the phone box.

Having used the phone box for numerous photoshoots we’re glad it’s staying, even if it is clear that it’s used more for photographs than it is for phone calls!

Now in our eleventh year we are continually growing and seeking new areas in which we can help the business community. We saw the need for local images and with this in mind we launched Seeker Photos.com – the Image Library.

Seeker Photos.com has a whole catalogue for people to choose from, with a wide variety of Dorset landscapes and other images representing the south coast, local companies can advertise the fantastic area that we work in.

Because we wanted Seeker Photos.com to offer the very best local images we opened it up to all contributors and the website now features over 2000 images with more than 80 contributing photographers.

More of Brighton West Pier vanishes

More of the iconic West Pier in Brighton has disappeared forever, but this is an attempt to clean up the area rather than erosion or arson!

Built in 1866 it stood for over a century before partially collapsing during a storm in 2002 and finally destroyed by a fire in 2003.

The Concert Hall is being cleared but luckily the Pavillion island will remain, it would have been unthinkable to lose it all together.

The work is required before the i360, a 150m tall observation tower which will look across Brighton and Hove which is hoped to be open before the 2012 Olympics.
